Abstract

Climate-induced disasters like floods, droughts, and heatwaves are increasingly threatening agriculture and food security globally, with Pakistan being particularly vulnerable. This study examines the impact of these disasters on agricultural productivity, livelihoods, and food security in Pakistan. Using a qualitative approach, combining historical climate data and agricultural statistics, the research reveals that climate change has led to significant crop losses, livestock mortality, and income decline among farmers. The findings highlight the disproportionate impact on vulnerable communities, exacerbating poverty and food insecurity. The study underscores the need for climate-resilient agricultural practices, early warning systems, and social protection programs to mitigate these effects. Policy recommendations include investing in climate-smart agriculture, promoting drought-tolerant crop varieties, and enhancing farmers' access to climate information and insurance services. This research contributes to the growing literature on the climate-agriculture-food security nexus, offering insights for policymakers and practitioners to build resilience in Pakistan's agricultural sector.
