Social Determinants of Community Participation: A Case Study of Pothohar, Punjab

This research examines the socioeconomic variables of community engagement in Pothohar, Punjab, a region distinguished by its distinct cultural, economic, and geographical settings. A quantitative research approach was used to gather data via surveys and comprehensive questionnaires with community members and local leaders. The study finds critical social variables influencing people's participation in community activities, including socioeconomic position, education, social capital, and cultural norms. Research indicates that elevated education levels and social capital are favourably associated with enhanced community participation, but socioeconomic difficulties impede engagement. Cultural variables significantly influence views toward collective action. As conclusion, the study highlights the need for customized methods that account for the unique social structure of Pothohar to improve community engagement and promote sustainable development. This study offers significant insights for sociologists and community organizers seeking to empower local communities and enhance civic participation.
